2015 Update

Sorry, it’s been so long since this was updated! It’s been a long interesting year in the music business, and it has seen a lot of changes. The good news it that Jimmy has established himself into the community so well, that for the most part it’s business a usual. The hope, however, is that there will be more education for the younger generation coming up, wanting to make a living in this business, so they understand the extreme consequences of pirating and illegal downloading of intellectual property, This pivotal issue is going to have a profound effect on this industry’s ability to stay viable and allow creative artists to continue to make a living doing what they love to do, and in fact were born to do.

Meanwhile, another CD for Carrie Underwood, which is surely to give her another platinum sales certificate, and a brand new artist project for Beau Davidson , along with a brand new Christmas CD for long time friend and Christian artist Jill Miller has kept Jimmy busy throughout 2015. Jimmy also was asked to lead the band for the coveted BMI Icon award ceremony, which this year honored the legendary Mac Davis. The event was held this November during the BMI Awards ceremony which is held just before the CMA wards here in Nashville. This year marks the 4th year Jimmy’s been involved, and the artists included Luke Bryan, Rascal Flatts, Little Big Town, and an acoustic medley performed by Mac McAnally. With horns and a full band including legendary musicians Eddie Bayers, Biff Watson, Chris Leuzinger, and Spady Brannan, the audience was blown away with these timeless songs which included, In The Ghetto, A Little Less Conversation, and Baby Don’t Get Hooked On Me.

Meanwhile, next year promises to be another wonderful year, which will be Jimmy’s 44th year in the music business. There are plans to tour with KT Oslin for a handful of dates to be announced early next year, so keep checking back with us for more details. Thanks again for all your support through the years!!

BLUE JEAN GIRL placed in a movie!!

14 year old singing sensation Kelsey K’s song Blue Jean Girl had been placed in an upcoming summer movie, to be announced later this winter. The song, co-written by Nichols and Myers, is really an autobiographical song about Kelsey’s life in her native Iowa, and is the title of her first full length CD. Stay tuned for much more from this dynamic artist this year!!

Sessions, sessions, sessions!!

With January almost in the bag already, The holidays are truly over for Music City!! The town notoriously shuts down for most of the first month while artists are finishing their vacations, but there was no rest for team Robby Johnson!! During the Christmas season, Robby’s first single South Of Me, from his upcoming album, of the same name, took off like a snow sled and after only 8 weeks....four of them during the holidays, is already at #45 on the Music Row Chart and is headed for inclusion on the Mediabase monitored chart! Not bad for a previously unknown country artist from Quebec with no label!! And his music video of the same name has over 2.7 million views!! The CD, produced my Jimmy and Grammy winning songwriter Frank Myers is due out later this year and features 12 original songs, some penned by Johnson himself, as well as Nichols, Myers, and many of Nashville’s most revered songwriters. Her’s hoping for lots of success from Robby!! Check out his debut video here!.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwLeg-_mwtM

Jimmy’s also slated to head back in the studio with The Swon Brothers, who are finishing their debut CD for Sony Nashville. These guys are the real deal, and you can check out their single here...http://www.swonbrothers.com

KT Oslin's back!!

Near the end of 2013, Jimmy had the pleasure of meeting one of country music’s most successful female recording artist, with no less than three Grammy’s and nearly a dozen smash hits to her name, KT broke down so many barriers for women during the 80”s and has become an icon for so many. She abruptly retired from the country music scene, and hasn’t toured in over 25 years!! But that all changed this past November, when she did a sold out performance at Franklin’s iconic Theater south on Music City. With Jimmy as her band leader and keyboardist, along with David Santos of Billy Joel/John Fogerty fame, Dennis Holt, who’s performed with the likes of Kerry Livgren of Kansas and Restless Heart, and Mike Durham, formerly from the Dave Mathews Band, this mighty four piece band proved to be the ultimate in intimate backdrop for KT’s amazing age defying voice. Along with her quick wit, great stories and songs written from her heart, She wove a tapestry of her life in front of an adoring crowd, made up of all ages, who drank her in like a fine wine....though occasionally a sip of beer did cross their lips!! KT now has the bug to perhaps do more shows this year, and has already asked the came band to accompany her if this happens. Keep checking in for updates on possible dates in 2014!!

Kelsey's Coming!

About a year ago, I was alerted by a friend of mine named Phil Carlin about a young singer songwriter from Moville, Iowa named Kelsey. I used to spend a lot of time there with my great friends the Holdcrofts who lived just north in a little town called Kingsley. So funny to find out that this young singer/songwriter lived so close to where I used to hang out in the 80s! Anyway, I’ve watched this young lady develop into quite an amazing young talent, and I am currently producing her debut CD, entitled “Blue Jean Girl”, which is due out later this year. Keep an eye out for this gifted young artist.
